Our story
Built on a decade of transformation
Quantrex did not start as a renewable energy company. We became one. A decade ago we made a decision that reshaped the entire business. Divest every fossil fuel asset. Reinvest everything in clean power.

Why we exist
A world that runs entirely on clean energy
Our mission is simple. Build and operate the renewable infrastructure the world needs to reach net zero. Our vision is bigger.
A future where clean energy is not the alternative. It is the default. Where every home every factory every city draws its power from sources that do not pollute and do not run out. We were built to make that future arrive faster.
Our values
The principles behind
every decision
Four values shape how Quantrex builds operates and grows. They are not posters on a wall. They are how we choose what to build and how to build it.
01
Integrity
We say what we will do and we do what we said. Every commitment auditable. Every result measurable.
02
Ambition
The energy transition rewards those who move first and fastest. We build at the scale and pace the climate demands.
03
Partnership
No company builds the energy transition alone. We work with governments suppliers communities and customers as long term partners.
04
Stewardship
We are guests in every region we operate in. We leave them better than we found them.
Beyond clean power
Built by the people who built the industry
Quantrex brings together leaders from renewable energy infrastructure finance and engineering. Decades of operational experience. A shared commitment to the transition.

Our history
From legacy utility
to renewable leader
Six moments that defined who Quantrex became.
01
The decision that changed everything
2014
In the spring of 2014 the Quantrex board convened for what would become the most consequential meeting in the company's history. The agenda was straightforward. The decision was not.
For decades Quantrex had been built on fossil fuels. Coal fired power stations gas pipelines and oil assets that generated reliable returns and defined the company's identity. But the signals were clear to anyone willing to read them. The economics of renewable energy were improving faster than almost anyone had predicted.

02
First gigawatt of installed renewable capacity
2016
Two years into the transformation Quantrex crossed a milestone that silenced many of its early critics. The commissioning of Nordvik Array in the North Sea brought the company's total installed renewable capacity to one gigawatt.
The achievement marked a turning point internally as much as externally. Engineering teams that had spent years working on fossil fuel assets were now delivering offshore wind at commercial scale. The skills the culture and the confidence of the organization shifted permanently. Quantrex was no longer becoming a renewable energy company. It was one.

03
Last coal asset retired
2018
In October 2018 Quantrex shut down its final coal fired power station. The plant had operated for thirty seven years and at its peak had supplied power to more than two million homes. Its closure marked the end of an era and the completion of the first and most visible phase of the transformation.
The event was marked quietly inside the company. No press conference. No ceremony. The teams that had run the plant for decades were already working on new renewable projects. The focus was forward. Coal was over. What came next was all that mattered.

Listed on the Copenhagen stock exchange
2019
Quantrex completed its initial public offering on the Copenhagen stock exchange in March 2019 raising four billion euros in one of the largest energy sector listings in European history.
The listing also brought a new level of accountability. Public markets demanded transparency on performance targets emissions reduction and project delivery. Quantrex welcomed that scrutiny. The discipline of public reporting reinforced the culture of measurable commitment that had driven the transformation from the start.

05
First offshore wind project in the United States
2020
Quantrex entered the United States offshore wind market with the groundbreaking of Atlantic Shore Wind off the coast of New Jersey.
Entering the US required building an entirely new development and regulatory capability from scratch. Quantrex established its Boston office in 2019 and spent twelve months navigating federal permitting processes before a single foundation was installed. The investment in that groundwork paid off. Atlantic Shore Wind came online in 2023 and today supplies clean power to 1.4 million American homes.

06
First year of 100% renewable production
2024
For the first time in its history every single megawatt hour of electricity generated by Quantrex in 2024 came from a renewable source. Wind. Solar. Hydro. Geothermal. Not one unit of fossil fuel generation remained in the portfolio. The goal set in 2014 had been achieved in full.
The milestone was significant not just for Quantrex but for the broader energy industry. A company that a decade earlier had generated the majority of its power from coal and gas had completely transformed its generation mix within ten years.
